Maintaining computer networks involves doing all of the little tasks that you may be tempted to put off until later. All of these little tasks add up over time, however, and can decrease security and increase the chance of you losing important data if they are not addressed.

We are happy to do for business owners what they rarely have enough time to do for themselves.

Many of our clients have us perform preventative maintenance tasks such as managing software and firmware updates, monitoring logs for stability or security concerns, and managing antivirus and network security systems. We also routinely examine system logs for problems and fix errors that can cause a computer to freeze up. We love cleaning extra, unneeded files that can slow down a computer’s operating system. We want your system operating at its prime.

Where possible, we often also set up automated responses to changing network conditions, to nip potential problems in the bud before they can even be noticed by an actual human. We look for network connection vulnerabilities and address them. We want you to be able to depend on your network being secure. We make it our business to anticipate problems before they can be a problem for you.

We recommend replacing computers and other hardware on a regular basis, especially for business users. This is a proven way to avoid many types of hardware-failure-related downtime, as well as keeping employees efficient – not waiting on aging hardware to catch up to them – and avoiding the frustration and morale drain of the “slow $%#@ computer” syndrome. We also work to manage software and upgrade it when necessary or delete software that you don’t need.

It is our goal to help you manage computer and information crises by preventing them from happening in the first place.

Additionally, we recommend – in the strongest terms – maintaining good backups, and one way to improve almost any backup scheme is to automate it. We help set up system backups (usually encrypted), and many of our clients have us come swap them out on a regular basis, storing them in a secured offsite fire-resistant safe. We also frequently recommend online backups as an additional layer of protection. Maintaining good backups is part of our regular maintenance routine. We don’t believe in taking chances with your data.
